Muay Thai Boxing on Koh Lanta Island

Thai Boxing or Muay Thai is a martial art thousands of years old. Different from Western-style boxing it includes kicks and punches performed with elbows, knees and feet.

There are a lot of different techniques used, not all intended to hurt the opponent immediately, some are only used to keep him away or put him off balance before striking out with the next attack.

Twice a week, during the high season are competitions, either at Phra-Ae Stadium or Klong Dao Stadium, normally on Tuesdays and Fridays. These are real fights, sometimes with fighters coming from other provinces and they are a "must go" for the local male population.

Fight nights start at 21:00 and the entrance fee starts at 600 - 1000 Baht.
